OIC Portrait Day 7 August 2010

Attended my first OIC Portrait day last Saturday together with my friends GuiTing, YuanRu and YikChun.
I wasn't very confident as I was not good at drawing portraiture, I just though I would give it a shot as everything is worth trying.
We paid $10 to join and we earn $10 as commission for each artwork sold. I did not go with much intention to get my works sold but if someone were to buy it I would of course be very happy.

We were given 20mins to draw the model. Every 20mins there would be a different model.
It was a real challenge because I have never drawn still life within such a short time frame before.
Location: Red Dot Museum
We were given stickers to identify ourselves!
After every 20mins of drawing a model, we pin out works up on the rack for display. People would walk around to view our art works and are allowed to purchase them for $10 each.
I got to see many different drawing styles today. I was most amazed by this girl who did all her portraiture with pastel!
Its been a long time since I touched pastel

Below are some of the works I did

I managed to sell one work and earned back the $10 which i paid for signing up!
I sold an A4 size abstract drawing of the French mother and her 3 year old daughter who modeled for us. (large drawing on the left)

She was beautiful, and so was her daughter!

I also realise that I can not force myself to draw continuously the whole day, the end result won't look that good. I need rest!
so I only stayed till 5pm. Overall it was a great experience! We are most defiantly going to attend the next portrait day.

An Attempt at Portraiture

OIC Portrait Day Happens this Saturday! Me and my friends just signed up as Artists.
We are not fantastic at drawing portraiture, but everything is worth a try and experiencing.

The above image is the event poster for the OIC portrait day. Click to find out more!

Below is my attempt at drawing a portrait of Sean in class this afternoon.
It doesn't really look like him in my opinion.
And below, is a sketch of Pet Safari, East Point Mall outlet at Simei. I went there after class to look at animals and noticed the well decorated back entrance.
I had a thing for animals, perhaps one day I shall sketch a live animal!
Sketching animals is not going to be easy. I attempted once and gave up because they won't keep still!
